One of the Chief in Ibadan, Oloye Taofeek Adegboyega Adegoke has said the ongoing registration and revalidation exercise embarked upon by the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) would afford the party adequate data.
Adegoke, who is the Ajia Balogun of Ibadanland, made this disclosure while speaking with journalists in Ibadan on Thursday.
The APC chieftain noted that the overall objective of the membership registration and revalidation exercise is to grow and strengthen the party from the grassroots.
Adegoke who spoke shortly after he revalidated his membership with APC, said the ongoing registration and revalidation would help the party have accurate data as well as capture those that have just attained the voting age ahead of 2023 general elections.
He appealed to all party faithful to avail themselves of the opportunity provided by the exercise.
Adegoke, who spoke at his polling unit at Oke-Ado High School in Ward 10, Ibadan South West, insisted that the exercise would help the party plan for the future elections and other programs.
He called for an all-embracing exercise and the spirit of oneness for all who are willing to register and join the party to continue to reap the dividends of democracy.
Adegoke said, “This registration and revalidation exercise will afford our party to increase membership.
“A few years back when we did the last registration some youths had not attained the voting age, but now have, this exercise will afford them, we need to capture them, youths are many in this country that have become adults now.
“Also it would afford the party to get accurate data that would be useful for analysis during the coming elections. To win elections and govern, an organized and responsible party must consciously grow its base with accurate data.
“It is, therefore, necessary and important for all our leaders and stakeholders to give unqualified support to this process by mobilizing our people to participate in it. We owe the Membership Registration Committee, and of course our national leadership, this solemn duty. Their success is our collective success.
“All politics is local, they say. In this regard, I specifically task and encourage all leaders and major stakeholders of the APC in Oyo state to seize this moment to unite in the best interest of the party and our people. Let us come together; mobilize our people to register as members of our party and strengthen the party thereby. It is the right thing to do.
“I am, therefore, calling on all the leaders and stakeholders of the APC to ensure full mobilisation, sensitization and participation of their people and ensure its success in their various catchment areas and the entire state at large”.
